4 beautiful and talented `pinks` of the dinosaur universe converge in Jurassic World: Dominion
Since its launch in 1993, the Jurassic Park and later Jurassic World franchise has provided the world with no shortage of strong feminist role models.
With the release of Jurassic World: Dominion (original title: Jurassic World: Dominion), look back at iconic characters and meet new ones that will continue the tradition.
1. Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern)
In Jurassic Park, Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) exclaims about the cycle of life: `God created dinosaurs. God destroyed dinosaurs. God created humans. Humans destroyed God. Humans created
And then Dr. Ellie Sattler replied: `Dinosaurs eat men. Women inherit the Earth.`
Laura Dern shared: `She’s cool, physical, funny, complex, and I think every female character in this series is like that.`
Ellie Sattler, a fearless paleobotanist, is willing to stick her hand in a pile of dinosaur poop to help heal a sick triceratops.
2. Claire Dearing
And then we have Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, making her debut in Jurassic World (2015).
All Claire wants in Jurassic World is to run a successful theme park, but she soon learns how horrifying playing with genetics can be.
Howard commented: `She’s someone who’s gone against the grain of history and in her journey, she’s trying to do the right thing.`
Amidst the turmoil of the world, Claire finds herself on a new mission: motherhood.
3. Maisie Lockwood
Claire and Owen’s adopted daughter – Maisie Lockwood is considered one of the best child characters of the Jurassic World franchise.
Because of her status, Lockwood has become a target for many organizations and individuals: it seems she always needs to be protected and sheltered.
4. Female pilot Kayla Watts
The new character who will make her debut in Jurassic World: Territory is the talented female pilot Kayla Watts.
This character will not fall into the black hero motif in many films today.
